Sidley’s Palo Alto office was founded in 2009 by a group of lawyers with decades of experience in Silicon Valley, a hub for innovation that is home to many of the world’s largest technology corporations as well as numerous ground-breaking start-up enterprises.

Our team of 35 lawyers in Palo Alto represents private and public companies – and their financing sources – at all stages of the business lifecycle and across a broad array of industries, including information technology, life sciences and alternative energy.

The Palo Alto office is a key component of Sidley’s core focus on representing corporate clients worldwide. Lawyers in the office counsel private and public companies on venture capital financings, public offerings, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic business alliances, as well as myriad day-to-day legal issues arising in today’s fast-paced business environment.

With roots tracing back to the earliest days of Silicon Valley, Sidley’s intellectual property lawyers have litigated some of the most historic IP and International Trade Commission cases. We counsel a wide range of established and emerging technology companies in managing their intellectual property portfolios, and we represent clients around the world in complex technology-based joint ventures, strategic alliances, licensing and outsourcing transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.

Sidley’s Palo Alto lawyers work closely with the firm’s offices in major worldwide financial centers on legal matters outside of the United States, including those involving companies based in or doing business in Asia.

The Palo Alto office supports the Silicon Valley Campaign for legal services organization and participates in an annual food drive and fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank. This past year, the office volunteered at Full Circle Farm, an 11-acre educational farm that provides fresh food for Santa Clara Unified Schools.
